Identity for Singapore Biennale 2023: Natasha

As a hypothetical branding brief, this was a group project that essentially requires us to propose a brand identity for the Singapore Biennale 2023 edition. The theme for this edition was curiously titled “natasha”. As compared to previous editions, this year’s theme leaves a rather open-ended interpretation of who or what
natasha could be. 
 




Once the news of the theme was announced, we were quite perplexed with the direction of the brief. Taking this as inspiration, we were certain that it may not be just us but also the audience that feels this sense of confusion as well as anticipation of what the actual branding and programmes the event would entail. From this, we decided to use the motive of n+? to enforce this sense of mystery of this year’s theme. These were some of the iterations we had done and we decided to go with the merging and blurring of these letters to illustrate the notion of fluidity and open-ended response to natasha. 

These were also some iterations of how the branding would like as a poster as well as on merchandise.
